Exhibition „Book Art in Croatia“ in the National and University Library in Ljubljana
This exhibition, which in the European Year of Cultural Heritage highlights the richness and diversity of an important part of Croatian heritage, is organized by the National and University Library in Zagreb in cooperation with the National and University Library in Ljubljana (Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica – NUK). The Slovenian public will have the opportunity to view book design in Croatia from 6 to 19 March 2018.The exhibition opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday 6 March at 12.00 hours in the National and University Library in Ljubljana. The exhibition will be opened by Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Anton Peršak and along with Minister Obuljen Koržinek, Director of the National and University Library in Zagreb Sc. D. Tatijana Petrić, Director of the National and University Library in Ljubljana Martina Rozman Salobir, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Slovenia Vesna Terzić and author of the exhibition prof. Sc.D. Milan Pelc, will address the gathered audience.
The exhibition "Book Art in Croatia", which will be accompanied by a homonymous exhibition catalogue, provides a historical overview of book production and decoration in Croatia from the middle ages to contemporary times, thus featuring the richest array of manuscript and printed books of various themes and content, ranging from medieval evangelaries and missals to modern illustrated publications and print-literary portfolios, which by their interior and exterior design and harmony between visual-graphic decoration and content, represent the greatest achievements in book design in Croatia. Author of the exhibition and art historian prof. Sc.D. Milan Pelc will select sixty units to be presented on boards (a copy, a bibliographic description and a brief description) along with several selected facsimile editions and an original copy of the Beram Missal.Exhibition „Book Art in Croatia“ in the National and University Library in Ljubljana
