Objectives of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018      
 

The European Year of Cultural Heritage aims at:
 

• encouraging people to explore the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Europe;
• celebrating, understanding and protecting its unique value;
• reflecting on the place cultural heritage has in our lives;

 
The European cultural heritage allows us to better understand the past and create a solid starting point for a common future. By putting cultural heritage into focus in 2018 we will emphasize:
 

• how cultural heritage builds stronger societies;
• how it creates jobs and prosperity;
• its importance for our relations with the rest of the world;
• what we can do to protect cultural heritage.
